With so many interesting and entertaining options on the 8,000-acre estate, there's something for every member of your family—from the outdoorsman to the princess.

Activities for every family member:
The Outdoorsman: Biking, rafting, hiking and horseback riding are some of the activities the outdoor adventurer can experience at Biltmore. Kick back on a guided float trip down the French Broad River or pedal your way through the lush trails to the Lagoon for a picnic with the family. Picnic baskets are available at the Bake Shop so you can enjoy a gourmet lunch on the estate grounds. Learn to navigate off-road obstacles at the Land Rover Experience Driving School, one of only three in North America. Biltmore has also recently added to its Explore Biltmore offerings with the additions of Segway tours and sporting clays lessons. The diverse estate landscape has an activity for every skill level.

The History Buff: Whether architecture, antiques, forestry, art, or people are your historic passion, Biltmore has them all within its gates. With Renoir paintings adorning bedroom walls, Napoleon's chest set beckoning its next game, and rolling hills illustrating one of Olmsted's greatest visions, there's enough history here to keep any modern-day family entertained.

The Green Thumb: Strolling through the magnificent gardens and taking in the rolling landscape at Biltmore is an awe-inspiring indulgence for any green thumb. Step into the reality of landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted's vision, and anyone will be amazed. With over 2,300 roses in 250 varietals and a summer garden of brilliant annuals, you'll see why Biltmore's gardens are frequently described as extraordinary.

The Animal Lover: Simply driving the curvy roads through Biltmore offers many opportunities to spy on wild life. The bass pond is a good place to catch a glimpse of the Canadian Geese, Wood Ducks, Mallards, Great Blue Herons and Belted Kingfishers. You can visit the stables at the Equestrian Center for a guided trail ride or to say hello to the horses. At River Bend Farm, kids can learn about farm life and visit with farmyard friends including lambs, calves, Belgian draft horses and chicks.

The Craftsman: Step into the everyday life of families who lived on the estate raising livestock, tending crops, and working at Biltmore Dairy in the 1890s. River Bend Barn—once the social and work center for these families—is alive again with blacksmiths, woodworkers, and other craft demonstrations; an old-fashioned mercantile shop; a creamery offering ice cream treats; live bluegrass bands, and more.

The Sweet Tooth: Every family has one, and Biltmore has many ways to satisfy them. Whether you're looking for a home-baked pastry item or two scoops of your favorite flavor, the Bake Shop and Ice Cream Parlor can fulfill your cravings. Located in the Stable area, these quick bite stores are a great pit stop for a refreshing treat. In addition to its many full-service restaurants, the estate also has many food and beverage carts for quick bites, and a creamery at River Bend Barn.

The Princess: After touring a castle, what better way to end the day than a horse drawn carriage ride with your royal family? Biltmore also offers guided trail rides down some of the same paths once traveled by the Vanderbilt family.
